Conspiracy, Etching
Käthe Kollwitz was one of the most significant German expressionist graphic artists of the twentieth century. Her “autobiography” is evinced through the posthumous publication of her memoirs, The Diary and Letters of Kaethe Kollwitz, as well as depicted through other creative works such as her etchings, drawings, woodcuts, and sculpture. Kollwitz’ politically insurgent work explored the nature of suffering, poverty, violence, and the absurdity of war, particularly as it impacted the lives of the women and children of her time.
