Accessing Library Resources

Most of the resources the library provides can be accessed via the Library Homepage in the "Find It" section.  There is also an alphabetical listing of all electronic resources: See Databases A-to-Z.  Most often you will have to key in your CougarTrack username and password before viewing content or search results.

Troubleshooting Access Problems

The library uses a proxy server (see definition from Wikipedia) to authenticate students, faculty, and staff into the resources we provide.  Most problems students have with accessing the library's resources involve a network or browser restricting access to websites coming from a proxy server.  Listed here are the most common scenarios:

Military Installation or Place of Work is Restricting Access

If you are on a military installation, or are trying to access our resources from a workplace, you could check with your IT department and see if they are able to lift the restriction for pages coming from https://proxy.ccis.edu (192.149.2.159).  Alternatively, try accessing the library from your home, local education center, or off the installation.

The Web Browser is Restricting Access

The Internet Explorer web browser has been causing problems as of late.  If you use Internet Explorer, try adding the Columbia College Library's proxy server as a trusted site:  https://proxy.ccis.edu.

Alternatively, you might try a different browser.  Both Firefox and Google Chrome are free to download and do not block proxy servers by default.
