Videos held at Stafford Library can be checked out for a seven-day period and can be renewed up to two times so long as there are no holds associated with it.

Faculty from any non-Columbia, Mo., campus can request the library send them Stafford Library-owned videos via mail. Please request ahead of time as it may take several days for the video to arrive. Note that it might be quicker to obtain the video locally. Please check with your local library or libraries.

Requesting Videos not held by Stafford Library

Requests for videos not held at Stafford Library are welcomed. Note, however, that it is generally difficult for us to obtain videos from other libraries via interlibrary loan (ILL) as most libraries prohibit or restrict the loaning out of videos (via ILL). We may not be able to fulfill your request.

Faculty from any non-Columbia, Mo., campus must also take into consideration the extra time delay when requesting videos not held by Stafford Library as transit must take place between the lending library sending the video to us as well as for us to send the video to the faculty member. It might be quicker to obtain the video locally. Please check with your local library or libraries.

The Video Service Alternative

An alternative to borrowing a video from the library would be borrowing directly from a video rental service. The Media Library of the Academic Support Center at the University of Missouri is one such place.

Media Library of the MU Academic Support Center

The Media Library of the University of Missouri’s Academic Support Center (ASC) rents videos nationwide and will ship to any location other than Mid-Missouri. They carry a large selection of educational videos and have a searchable catalog.

If you are an instructor at the Columbia, Mo., campus, the Columbia College library will assist with and pay rental fees associated with renting videos from MU’s ASC Media Library. Note, however, that it is the instructor’s responsibility to pick up and return rented items. Ordering can be done directly with the ASC per instructions on their Media Library Ordering Information page.

Please note that Stafford Library will assist only Columbia, Mo., campus faculty to rent videos from the ASC. All other campuses must contact the ASC directly and set up separate accounts. Faculty should check with their campus director as an account may already exist.
