This report is a summary of findings of a research-focused review of the literature centered around instructor and online teaching competencies. The research builds upon a previous study by Jurgen Hilke and others that was completed in 2012

his document offers suggestions for instructors in Stanford University’s PWR and Thinking Matters looking to continue offering a student-centered learning experience in a remote or online learning environment.

Teaching in times of disruption, whether those disruptions are caused by health concerns, weather events, or travel delays, can be challenging. Fortunately, the Vanderbilt teaching community has access to a number of tools that can help instructors move elements of their classes online to support remote teaching and learning.

Synchronous online education occurs when the students and faculty member are in different locations geographically and interaction occurs simultaneously through the internet at scheduled times. In this study I investigated the phenomenon of using synchronous online classes blended with a face-to-face classroom to complete the freshman year of college.

This study explores one such publisher's tool, Quiz Me Mastery Points, of Pearson's MyOmLab. The performance of students on their examinations and the Mastery Points they earned through the Quiz Me feature were compared, and it was determined that there was a significant correlation between the two.

While online courses are gaining more acceptance and attendance in them is growing, there are still some misconceptions regarding online courses and how to sustain quality education through the course. In this paper we discuss two keys to sustainability, course design and delivery. Tips about how to create and sustain effective, quality online courses, from both the student and teacher's perspective will be presented. Also, fables and fiction associated with online teaching and course delivery will be addressed
